PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH
- Arrived at Texas Tech midway through preseason camp with one season of eligibility remaining … will compete for the backup spot behind Will Hammond at quarterback and give the Red Raiders a dual-threat option at quarterback … joined the Red Raiders after previously spending the 2025 season at Florida State, the 2023-24 campaigns at Boston College and the 2022 season at UCF.
- An experienced college quarterback with 38 appearances over his career and 32 starts … combined to complete 477-of-816 passes (58.5 percent) over his career, throwing for 6,449 yards and 48 touchdowns … an elusive rusher from behind center with 459 career carries for 1,984 yards and 24 touchdowns … one of only 10 FBS quarterbacks since the start of the 2022 season to record at least 6,000 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards during that span.
- Credited with 2,160 offensive snaps over his career by Pro Football Focus … coming off his best season statistically, which earned him an 85.1 overall grade by the publication … grade ranked 19th among quarterbacks nationally with at least 200 offensive snaps, giving Texas Tech another experienced quarterback behind starter Will Hammond.
- 2025 SEASON (SENIOR AT FLORIDA STATE): returned to the Sunshine State for his fourth collegiate season, taking over as the Seminoles’ starting quarterback upon his arrival … started all 12 games for Florida State, completing 180-of-309 passes (58.3 percent) for 2,760 yards and 15 touchdowns … also led the Seminoles with 557 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, the most ever for a Florida State quarterback in a season.
- Led the FBS with 15.3 yards per completion and ranked fourth nationally for completions of at least 30 yards (28) … was also tied for seventh with eight completions of 50 or more yards and tied for ninth with 14 completions of at least 40 yards … was the ACC leader for completions of both 30 and 40 yards and ranked second for completions of at least 50 yards.
- Recorded more than 300 yards of total offense twice on the season, beginning at Virginia (9/26) to start ACC play … threw for 254 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-32 passing, while also rushing 14 times for a season-high 78 yards and another score … ended his Florida State career with 240 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns at Florida (11/29) to go along with 19 carries for 77 yards and another score … was one of four games on the season to account for at least three touchdowns.
- Began the season by leading Florida State to three-straight wins, including a 31-17 victory over Alabama (8/30) in the opener … completed 9-of-14 passes versus the Crimson Tide for 152 yards, while rushing 1 times for 78 yards and a touchdown in the win … was one of only two games on the season to not throw for at least 200 yards.
- 2024 SEASON (JUNIOR AT BOSTON COLLEGE): limited to only eight games, all starts, as a junior with the Eagles … completed 99-of-161 passes for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns to only five interceptions … also rushed 93 times for 194 yards and one touchdown … did not play in the final three games of the season as well as Boston College’s appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl.
- Opened the season with a 73-yard rushing touchdown to lead Boston College to a road win at his future school in No. 10 Florida State (9/2) … completed 10-of-16 passes for 106 yards and two other touchdowns in the win … best passing performance of the year came a week later, completing 9-of-10 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns … threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns at Missouri (9/14) and then 254 yards and two touchdowns at Virginia (10/5).
- 2023 SEASON (SOPHOMORE AT BOSTON COLLEGE): enjoyed a breakout season for the Eagles, earning the starting job following the opening weekend en route to becoming the first Boston College player in history to record 2,000 passing yards and another 1,000 rushing yards … only the fifth ACC player to do so since 1996 … ended the year by completing 189-of-330 passes for 2,248 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,113 yards and another 13 scores on the ground … his 13 rushing touchdowns ranked third in the ACC.
- Appeared in 13 games for the Eagles, making 12 starts overall … made his Boston College debut off the bench in the second quarter against Northern Illinois (9/2), finishing 13-of-28 for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing nine times for 67 yards and another score … earned the start the next week versus Holy Cross (9/9), completing 17-of-23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing 16 times for 69 yards … three for a career high 305 yards the next week versus Florida State (9/16) on 20-of-33 passing, while also rushing 16 times for 95 yards and a score … marked the most total yards of offense in his career.
- Eclipsed the 100-yard mark rushing four times on the year, beginning with 142 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries at Army (10/7) … followed with 128 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries at Georgia Tech (10/21) … later closed the season with 130 rushing yards on 19 carries and a touchdown versus Miami (11/24) and a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries in Boston College’s victory over SMU (12/28) in the Fenway Bowl.
- Surpassed 300 yards of total offense in the win at Georgia Tech after completing 17-of-29 passes for 255 yards … threw for 200-plus yards earlier in the year at Louisville (9/23), finding the end zone three times through the air in the loss … his three touchdown passes marked a season high and was one of four games with multiple touchdown throws.
- 2022 SEASON (FRESHMAN AT UCF): appeared in five games as a freshman for the Knights … completed 9-of-16 passes on the season for 75 yards, while also carrying 14 times for 120 yards and a touchdown … served as the third-string quarterback for majority of the season.
- Best performance of the season came versus Temple (10/13) with three carries for 88 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter … completed all six of his pass attempts in the blowout win for 60 yards … played most of the second quarter and in the early part of the third quarter in The America Championship game versus Tulane (12/3), completing only 2-of-8 passes for seven yards.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Ware County High School in his hometown of Waycross, Georgia … four-year starter at the prep level who threw for 7,710 career yards and ran for another 3,681 yards as one of the top athletes in the state of Georgia.
- Helped lead Ware County to a 9-2 record and second round appearance in the Georgia Class 5A playoffs as a senior in 2021 … completed 177-of-275 passes that season for 2,613 yards and 25 touchdowns, while carrying an impressive 136 times for 968 yards and 13 additional scores … began the season as part of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11 Preseason Team.
- Previously threw for 2,881 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior, while rushing for an additional 939 yards and 24 touchdowns … helped lead Ware County to a 10-2 record and a Class 5A state quarterfinals appearance … garnered first team All-State honors as an athlete for his performance. … excelled on the defensive side of the ball at cornerback during prep career as well.
- Four-sport athlete for Ware County as a member of the basketball, soccer and track and field programs during his career … competed in the 400 meters, most relay events and the long jump.
- Considered a three-star prospect out of high school by the likes of 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN … ranked as high as No. 37 among athletes nationally by 247Sports and No. 54 among recruits in the state of Georgia … signed with UCF over offers from Florida State, Kansas, Florida Atlantic and others.

- Thomas Castellanos IV … goes by “Tommy” to friends and family … son of Thomas Castellanos III and Yukia Castellanos … one of 12 siblings in his family.
- Third member of his immediate family to play collegiate football with two older brothers who played at Savannah State and Syracuse, respectively … the cousin of former Florida State standout Devonta Freeman, who was a first team All-ACC running back for the Seminoles as part of their 2013 National Championship team.
- Enjoys the outdoors in his spare time away from football, namely in hunting and fishing … interests also include fashion.
