PERSONAL
- Impressed as only a true freshman, especially in an experienced inside linebackers room that featured two All-Big 12 selections, including a multi-time national award winner in Jacob Rodriguez … appeared in all 14 games due to his ability on special teams … also broke into the linebacker rotation as the season progressed.
- Totaled 16 tackles (7 solo) to go along with a quarterback hurry … vast majority of tackles - 13 to be exact - came against Big 12 opponents … had a tackle in eight different games and multiple stops in four of those contests … made two of those tackles as part of kickoff coverage.
- Credited with 99 defensive snaps on the season by Pro Football Focus, receiving a 71.7 overall grade by the publication … took part in 119 additional snaps on special teams with the vast majority coming on kickoff coverage … led the Red Raiders with 105 snaps on kickoff coverage … also saw limited time on the kickoff return and punt return units.
- Best performance of the season came in the Edward Jones Big 12 Championship versus BYU (12/6) … briefly replaced Ben Roberts in the first half due to injury, making six key tackles in the win, the third-highest total on the team … credited with only 12 defensive snaps but was rewarded with a 82.1 overall grade by Pro Football Focus, his highest of the season.
- Previously had two tackles in the earlier matchup against BYU (11/8) in Lubbock … added a quarterback hurry in that win as well, which came on a fourth-down stop on BYU’s final drive of the game … had other multi-tackle performances earlier in the season with two stops versus Kent State (9/6) and three against Kansas (10/11) … made his first career tackle in his collegiate debut versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/30) in the season opener.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Flower Mound Marcus High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex … talented athlete that played quarterback, outside linebacker, inside linebacker, safety and punter during high school career … shined at inside linebacker as a senior, same position he will play as a Red Raider.
- Selected to for the final 2024 Whataburger Super Team following his senior season … finished with 90 tackles and 6.0 sacks over a 10-game season in 2024 en route to earning unanimous All-District 5-6A accolades at inside linebacker … also had 12 carries for 84 rushing yards and one touchdown on offense.
- Recognized as a first team All-District 6-6A selection as a safety his junior year ... tallied 51 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries that year … named a second team All-District outside linebacker as a sophomore.
- Three-sport athlete at Marcus also playing baseball and competing on the track team … as a right-handed pitcher, topped 86 MPH with a 79 MPH slider at the 2024 Five Tool Festival where he also belted a home run at the event … played varsity baseball as a sophomore … registered a personal-best 10.74 100-meter dash as a member of the track team.
- An active volunteer for three years in Lewisville ISD’s Adopt an Athlete program, mentoring a class of second graders at Bridlewood Elementary … member of the National Honor Society and Student Advisory Council.
- Consensus three-star recruit by the likes of ESPN, 247Sports, On3 and Rivals … ranked as high as No. 24 among linebackers nationally by Rivals and was at No. 43 by ESPN … was a top-100 recruit in the state of Texas by both publications … committed to the Red Raiders in January 2024 … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Army, Kansas State, Memphis, North Texas and UTEP.

- Brock Golwas … born in Houston, Texas … calls Flower Mound, Texas home … son of Stephen and Lara Golwas … his father is a Texas Tech alumnus ... has one sister, Kate.
- Comes from a family of athletes … the late Peter Golwas, his grandfather, was on the U.S. Naval Academy football and track teams in the early 1960s …. followed his football career by serving two tours in Vietnam and earning two Bronze Stars and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal … cousin Ross Matiscik played football at Baylor (2015-19) and later the Jacksonville Jaguars … cousin Brent Matiscik played football at TCU (2019-24) … cousin Paine Matiscik played football at Rice (2013-16).
