- Local product out of Frenship High School in Lubbock ... one of the top area athletes during prep career, immediately boosting the Tigers … took snaps at defensive back and quarterback during his high school career but starred as a wide receiver.
- Totaled more than 3,500 receiving yards over his prep career as a three-year varsity letterwinner … enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore with 87 catches for 1,428 yards and 17 touchdowns to earn All-District 2-6A second team honors … helped lead Frenship to the area round of the Class 6A playoffs both his sophomore and junior seasons before falling to a Southlake Carroll team that advanced to at least the state semifinals both years.

- Both parents are former college student-athletes at Arkansas with his father as a defensive back of the football program and his mother in track and field … grandfather, Darrell Brown, was also a football student-athlete at Arkansas … mother garnered All-America honors in the outdoor heptathlon twice during her career (2000, 2002) while claiming three SEC individual titles … she was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor in 2015 as well as the state of Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame that same year … she is now Texas Tech’s Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator.
