- Attended Bixby High School in his hometown of Bixby, Oklahoma, located southeast of Tulsa โฆ two-way player at the prep level, starring at linebacker and outside linebacker defensively and then as a running back and tight end โฆ joined the inside linebacker room upon his arrival at Texas Tech.
- Played for one of the top high school programs in the state of Oklahoma as Bixby won its fourth-consecutive Class 6A Division I title his senior year โฆ was part of five total state championships during prep career with four in football and one in baseball โฆ wrapped an undefeated 13-0 season his senior year with a 31-17 victory over Owasso in the state championship game โฆ marked the 11th-consecutive season Bixby had played for a state title.
- Tabbed the All-State Defensive Player of the Year as a senior by The Oklahoman after recording 87 tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and 13 hurries โฆ scored five times offensively with eight catches for 165 yards and four touchdowns to go along with five carries for 18 yards and another touchdown โฆ ย collected first team All-State honors by the Oklahoma Coaches Association following the season.
