HIGH SCHOOL
PERSONAL
- Played on both sides of the ball as a redshirt freshman, starting the year in the secondary before transitioning to the running back room … regular on special teams as well, ultimately appearing in all 14 games.
- Totaled five tackles defensively with three coming against Kent State (9/6), including one as part of punt coverage … also had a tackle in the season opener versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/30) and in the regular-season win versus BYU (11/8).
- Blocked a kick on special teams in the shutout win over Oklahoma State (10/25), getting his hands on a punt to end the first drive of the game … the Red Raiders recovered at the Oklahoma State 26-yard line and scored a play later for an early 13-0 lead … one of five blocked kicks on the season by the Red Raiders, which was tied for the national lead.
- On the offensive end, carried 11 times for 60 yards, all in Big 12 play … entered late in wins to carry four times for 13 yards versus Oklahoma State, three times for 12 yards against UCF (11/15) and four times for 35 yards in the regular-season finale at West Virginia (11/29) … lone reception on the year went for a negative loss against UCF.
- Led the team with 208 snaps on special teams, according to Pro Football Focus … member of Texas Tech’s kickoff and punt coverage teams as well as the punt return unit … added 44 snaps on defense and 19 on offense during the season.
2024 SEASON (FRESHMAN)
- Redshirt season … played the maximum of four games in the regular season to preserve his redshirt … also appeared in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl against Arkansas to close the season.
- Made his collegiate debut midway through the season against Baylor (10/19) before seeing time at TCU (1026) and Iowa State (11/2) as well as at home versus Colorado (11/9) … did not record a tackle in those appearances … inserted on special teams in all five games, primarily as part of the punt return unit … saw brief time on kick returns and kickoff coverage as well.
- Scout team member … recognized as the defensive scout team player of the week following Texas Tech’s season-opening win over Abilene Christian (8/31).
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended El Campo High School near the Gulf Coast of Texas, roughly an hour southwest of the greater Houston area … one of the top overall athletes in the 2024 class, both in football and in track and field.
- Started on both sides of the ball for the Ricebirds as a quarterback as well as a key member of the secondary … projected as a defensive back at the collegiate level … limited his senior season due to an injury for an El Campo program that advanced to the area round of the Class 4A Division I playoffs.
- Previously was one of the most dynamic athletes in South Texas his junior season, earning District 12-4A Utility Player of the Year honors … threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns that season on only 37 attempts … also rushed for 743 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, while picking off three passes in the secondary … named a second team All-District selection that season as El Campo’s punter … El Campo finished 9-3 overall his junior season with another appearance in the area round of the playoffs.
- Four-sport athlete at El Campo, starring in baseball, basketball and track and field as well as football … was the Class 4A state champion in the triple jump as a junior after leaping an impressive 50 feet, 10 inches, the second-longest measurement in UIL 4A history … that jump would have placed fifth at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in 2023.
- Consensus three-star prospect by the likes of Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports and On3 … was a consensus top-100 prospect in the state of Texas by all four publications as well … ranked as high as No. 34 among cornerbacks nationally by Rivals and at No. 38 by On3 … listed as the No. 59 recruit in the state of Texas by 247Sports.
- CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, North Texas, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tulane, Utah, Vanderbilt, among others.
