2024 SEASON (FRESHMAN)
HIGH SCHOOL
PERSONAL
- Redshirt season … scout team member … began the season sharing the backup spot at left guard with Dylan Shaw despite being only a true freshman.
- Appeared in two games along the offensive line against North Texas (9/14) and West Virginia (11/30) … credited with playing in eight snaps in the win over the Mean Green and 13 snaps against the Mountaineers … graded out at 79.1 as a pass blocker by Pro Football Focus over those two games.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Local product out of Lubbock Cooper High School … one of the most-highly rated offensive linemen in West Texas in recent memory … member of the Cooper football program that was 30-9 overall over his three seasons … selected as a team captain his senior season.
- Three-time all-district honoree as a member of the 2-5A first team each of the last two seasons and the 3-5A second team as a sophomore in 2021 … the Pirates reached the Class 5A Division I area round both his junior and senior seasons after previously advancing to the Division II state semifinals in 2021 … trip to the fifth round of the playoffs his sophomore year marked the furthest the Pirates had made it in the playoffs in school history … Cooper fell to the eventual state champion in each of his three seasons.
- Played four different positions up front during his prep career … the Pirates pounded teams on the ground in 2022, rushing for 2,872 yards with him playing primarily at guard.
- Dual-sport athlete like many other Texas Tech offensive line signees under Joey McGuire as a member of the Cooper basketball program.
- Received his first collegiate offer by the Texas Tech staff … consensus three-star recruit by the likes of On3, 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals … ranked as high as No. 52 nationally among interior offensive linemen by Rivals and then No. 54 by ESPN … member of the Texas 100 by Rivals at No. 80 overall … listed at No. 65 among interior offensive linemen nationally by 247Sports … graduated early to join the Red Raiders in the spring of 2024 … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Baylor, Kansas and Houston.
