2024 SEASON (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN)
Served as Texas Tech’s scout team quarterback for most of the season … did not see any game action … was the Red Raiders’ backup quarterback for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl matchup versus Arkansas … stayed with the Red Raiders through the bowl game despite entering the NCAA transfer portal … committed to play at McNeese State out of the portal.
2023 SEASON (FRESHMAN)
Redshirt season … listed as the backup quarterback for majority of the year following the season-ending injury to Tyler Shough in the Big 12 opener at West Virginia (9/23) … appeared at quarterback in three games with one start at BYU (10/21) … became the seventh true freshman in school history to start a game at quarterback, joining a list that features Ron Reeves (1978), Aaron Keesee (1984), Baker Mayfield (2013), Davis Webb (2013), Patrick Mahomes II (2014) and Alan Bowman (2018) … was the fifth true freshman quarterback among that group to make his first career start against a conference opponent … was just the second true freshman quarterback in school history to make his first career start on the road, joining Keesee … finished 19-of-37 overall for 236 yards and a touchdown versus the Cougars … had previously came off the bench a week earlier to replace Behren Morton at halftime against Kansas State (10/14) … was 16-of-28 for 173 yard and a touchdown versus the Wildcats, while also breaking loose on a 54-yard rush on his only carry … connected with Jerand Bradley on an eight-yard scoring strike with 7:31 remaining in the third quarter for his first career touchdown pass … touchdown was set up by his 54-yard rush on 3rd-and-1 earlier in the drive … inserted late in Texas Tech’s victory over Cal (12/16) in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.
