February 10, 2026 | Men's Basketball
LUBBOCK – With only four home games remaining, No. 16 Texas Tech is set to host Colorado at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena before traveling to play at No. 1 Arizona on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona. The Red Raiders (17-6, 7-3 Big 12) are coming off a 70-63 road win at West Virginia on Sunday while the Buffaloes (14-10, 4-7 Big 12) travel to Lubbock after a 78-70 home win over Arizona State last Saturday.
"Every home game is important this time of year," Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland said. "Colorado was fantastic in the second half the last time we played them. We were in a bad spot in the second half because of the way they compete. It's a big home game and we're excited about the opportunity. In this league, especially playing a great offensive team like Colorado, you can't give them good looks. If you do, they have a lot of offensive players who can make you pay. They've won two of their last three games and have played well offensively in those games. Our attention to detail on defense was where it needed to be against West Virginia and we just need to keep improving in that area."
The Red Raiders are currently fifth in the Big 12 standings and 11-1 on their home court this season while the Buffaloes are 1-5 on the road. Tech earned a 73-71 win over CU on January 10 in Boulder with Donovan Atwell leading the team with 17 points after making five 3-pointers and JT Toppin and LeJuan Watts both recording double-doubles. Toppin went for 16 points and 13 rebounds, Watts added 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists and Anderson finished the game with 15 points. Isaiah Johnson led CU with 21 points after going 13-of-13 at the free-throw line and Barrington Hargress scored 17 points. Tech led the game by as many as 24 points in the second half before holding on to win on the road by two.
Tech snapped a two-game losing streak that had followed a five-game winning streak with its 70-63 win over West Virginia last Saturday in Morgantown. Anderson recorded his sixth double-double of the season and his seventh game with 10-plus assists after going for 13 points and 11 assists while Toppin led the Red Raiders with 22 points and had nine rebounds. Atwell made four 3-pointers, finishing with 15 points and Jaylen Petty had his 11th game this season scoring in double figures with 11 points. The Red Raiders never trailed against WVU and led by as many as 15 in the second half.
Toppin leads the Big 12 with 10.5 rebounds per game and 14 double-doubles and is third in the conference with 21.8 points per game. He is on pace to become only the second player in Big 12 history to average 20-plus points, 10-plus rebounds with Oklahoma's Blake Griffin being the only other player to accomplish the feat. Toppin ranks in the top 10 nationally in rebounding and scoring and leads the nation with 207 made field goals. Andre Emmett owns the Tech record for field goals made with 297 in the 2002-03 season while Jarrius Jackson is the last Red Raider to average over 20 points for a season with him scoring 20.5 points per game in the 2005-06 season. Anderson leads the Big 12 and is third nationally with 7.7 assists per game which is the best in program history with Hawkins owning the all-time record at 6.46 assists per game.
Tech leads the Big 12 and is sixth nationally with 11.5 made 3-pointers per game and is second in the conference and 10th nationally by shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc. The Red Raiders were 13-of-24 (54.2%) on 3-pointers in the win over WVU and have now made 10 or more in 18-of-23 games this season, including setting a new program record with 17 in games against Baylor, Oklahoma State and Lindenwood. The Red Raiders established new program records on 3-pointers the past two seasons under McCasland by making 371 last season (37 games) and 289 the year before (34 games). As a team, Tech is 264-for-675 (39.1%) on 3-pointers through 23 games this season which is already the fourth most made in a season in program history.
