
Tech welcomes No. 13 Auburn to Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are back at home this weekend as they host No. 13 Auburn on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Tech is coming off a 1-1 outing at the Norman Regional during ITA Kickoff Weekend. First, the Lady Raiders defeated the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, 4-2, to move on to the regional finals. In the match, Tech earned their fourth doubles point of the season after picking up wins on courts two and three.
Then, Tech would get singles wins on courts two, four and five to earn the victory. Avelina Sayfetdinova picked up her third match clinch of the year with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory against Maria Berlanga.
Currently, Sayfetdinova and Cristina Tiglea lead the Lady Raiders with four dual singles wins while Camryn Stepp had a team-high four dual doubles wins.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The No. 13-ranked Auburn Tigers come into the match boasting a 4-1 record just like Tech. They collected wins over Iowa State, Samford, UC-Santa Barbara and UCF, while their only loss came at the hands of No. 2 North Carolina, 6-1. There are three Tigers ranked in singles as Ariana Arseneault is No. 43, Carolyn Ansari checks in at No. 71 and DJ Bennett ranks No. 78. Auburn also has two doubles teams ranked – Ansari and Arseneault are No. 10 and Anastasia Astakhova and Adeline Flach are ranked No. 33.
