No. 20 Tech hosts Arizona State for Senior Day
February 27, 2026 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 20 Texas Tech Lady Raiders host Senior Day on Sunday against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 2 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. The Sun Devils lead the all-time series, 5-4, over the Lady Raiders and have won the last two games. Arizona State earned a 79-61 win over Texas Tech in the last meeting on Jan. 1, 2025 in Tempe, Ariz.
In Texas Tech's (24-6, 11-6 Big 12) last game at Kansas on Feb. 25, Sarengbe Sanogo recorded a career game against the Jayhawks. She led the Lady Raiders in points (16), rebounds (6), blocks (5), field goals (8) and field goal attempts (10). She posted career-bests in points, field goals and attempts, while her five blocks were a season-best and one block away from a career-high. This marked back-to-back games where a Lady Raider posted 5+ blocks as Jalynn Bristow had six at Colorado.
Texas Tech totals its most Big 12 wins since the 2011-12 season and the most overall wins since the 2004-05 season. A win against Arizona State will give Tech the most Big 12 wins since 2004-05 and the most overall wins since 2003-04. The Lady Raiders can also finish as high as fourth in the Big 12, which marks the best finish in conference play since finishing tied for third in the 2012-13 season.
The Lady Raiders are good at blocking shots. Currently, Texas Tech ranks ninth nationally and second in the Big 12 with 5.8 blocks per game. In Tech's game at Colorado on Feb. 21, the Lady Raiders totaled 10 blocks, their third time this season with double-figure blocks in a game. They then added seven more blocks in the following game at Kansas on Feb. 25.
With 10 points at Kansas on Wednesday, Maupin surpassed Jia Perkins in career points, now ranking fourth all-time in scoring with 1,777 points. She also checks in at eighth in field goal attempts (1,370), fourth in 3-pointers made (191), third in 3-pointer attempts (589), third in free throws made (470), fifth in free throw attempts (564) and fifth in free throw percentage (.833).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Arizona State Sun Devils are 22-8 overall and 9-8 in the Big 12. Arizona State began the season with a 15-0 record and has key wins recently over Arizona, Utah and Oklahoma State. Shooting 42.9 percent from the field, Arizona State is also averaging 36.7 rebounds per game, 15.3 assists per game and 9.7 steals per game.
