Cornhuskers use three-run fourth inning to get win
CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 1 Texas Tech dropped its first game of the season on Sunday evening as No. 8 Nebraska won 3-2 in the final game of the Clearwater Invitational.
Canady went 4.2 innings and struck out five batters while giving up three earned runs before Samantha Lincoln came in for relief for the final 1.1 innings.
Mihyia Davis was good at the top of the line up for the Red Raiders, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Lauren Allred recorded the other RBI on a sac fly to center. Lagi Quiroga doubled and both Mia Williams and Taylor Pannell picked up hits.
Nebraska's Jessie Farrell delivered the biggest hit of the day on a two-run homer to left center field to tie the game at 2-2.
How it Happened:
The Red Raiders took an early 2-0 lead after scoring in the first and third innings thanks to some good base running.
The Huskers used two doubles and a home run to push across their three runs in fourth.
Tech had some chances in the top of the fourth to extend its lead, but Jordy Frahm shut down Tech's offense in the final three innings to secure the win for Nebraska.
UP NEXT: Tech will head to California for the Mary Nutter Classic beginning on Thursday.
