Tech hosts Jacksonville for Education Day
December 16, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders host the Jacksonville Dolphins for Education Day on Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. Tech leads the all-time series over the Dolphins, 1-0, with their win coming on Dec. 20, 2013 by a 62-48 score.
The Lady Raiders (12-0) have a chance to do something that has only been done four other times in program history with a win against Jacksonville on Wednesday. If Tech gets the victory, it will be just the fifth time ever that the Lady Raiders remained undefeated before conference play. The only other times this happened were in 1999-00, 2003-04, 2011-12 and 2019-20. The 13-0 start would also be the third best start to a season as Tech went 16-0 in 2003-04 and 15-0 in 2011-12 to begin those seasons.
Two Lady Raiders posted back-to-back perfect shooting games this past week. At Washington State, Snudda Collins went 7-for-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She was one field goal shy of tying the program record for the most makes without a miss. The following game against Abilene Christian, Jada Malone had herself a perfect game after shooting 6-for-6 from the field. This is the first time since at least 1999 two Lady Raiders recorded perfect field goal percentages with at least six made field goals in a game.
Senior Bailey Maupin is close to hitting two milestones on Wednesday. With 1,489 career points so far, Maupin is just 11 points shy of 1,500. In addition, with nine points against Jacksonville, she can move to 10th all-time in career scoring, surpassing Rene Hanebutt (1995-99) who has 1,497.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Jacksonville Dolphins are 7-2 so far this season, with key wins over Florida A&M, Coastal Carolina and FIU. Their two losses were at Florida (55-100) and at No. 8 TCU (49-89) last Sunday. The Dolphins are averaging 69.9 points per game and holding opponents to 69.2 points per game. Shooting 38.1 percent from the field, Jacksonville is averaging 36.0 rebounds per game, 11.7 assists per game and 10.4 steals per game. There are two dolphins who average double-figure scoring so far in Priscilla Williams (12.9) and Mychal White (10.2). On the rebounding side, Williams also leads the way with 7.9 per game, followed by Carmaya Bowman with 5.1.
