Tech welcomes TCU for final home match of season

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 31 Texas Tech Lady Raiders host the No. 62 TCU Horned Frogs for their last home match of the regular season on Friday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center. Prior to the match, Tech will recognize Olivia Peet for Senior Day.
The Lady Raiders split last week's Big 12 contest with No. 40 Baylor and No. 9 Texas. Against the Bears, Tech would win, 4-3, after claiming the doubles point with wins at courts one and two, then adding singles victories at courts one, two and five. In those singles wins, Peet picked up a ranked victory over No. 124 Alina Shcherbinina, 6-2, 6-3.
Against the Longhorns, Tech was able to win a ranked doubles match as Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova defeated No. 41 Charlotte Chavatipon and Sabina Zeynalova at the top court, 6-4.
In dual singles, freshman Yekaterina Dmitrichenko leads the team with 11 wins, followed by Komac, Arina Oreshchenkova, Sayfetdinova and Cristina Tiglea with nine dual victories apiece. In doubles, the duo of Komac and Sayfetdinova post a team-high 10 dual wins, followed by Peet and Tiglea with nine. In the latest ITA rankings, the Komac/Sayfetdinova tandem jumped to No. 39, while Komac and Tiglea are ranked No. 57.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The TCU Horned Frogs are heading to Lubbock ranked No. 62 in the country. TCU (9-7, 1-5 Big 12) has posted key wins over Alabama, Ole Miss, Kansas State and SMU. Some of their losses come against Baylor, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. TCU is led in singles by both Mercedes Aristegui and Destinee Martins who have nine dual wins on the year. Yu-Chin Tsai follows with seven dual singles wins of her own. In doubles, three teams total seven dual wins – Helena Narmount/Tsai, Aristegui/Jade Otway and Martins/Tiphanie Lemaitre. TCU also has one player ranked in singles as Aristegui sits at No. 105, while Narmount and Tsai are the No. 81-ranked doubles team in the nation.
