
Women’s tennis returns to action vs. Houston, Ole Miss

Tech will return to the court for the first time since Jan. 30
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis program returns to action for the first time in 19 days this weekend when they host the Houston Cougars Friday at 2 p.m. and the Ole Miss Lady Rebels on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will take place at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech has played just twice since the home opener back on Jan. 21 against UTEP and ACU, a 4-0 sweep of South Carolina and a 4-0 loss to then No. 13 Texas A&M.
Tech has been led by Margarita Skriabina so far this season.
Skriabina is ranked 17th in the current ITA rankings, and is 7-1 this spring. Four of her seven victories have come against ranked opponents, including three victories in the season opening Torero Classic. The Russian was named Big 12 Player of the week back on Jan. 18.

Tech returns home after posting a 1-1 record at ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Lady Raiders cruised to a 4-0 victory against South Carolina. In that match, Skrianina and Metka Komac led the charge as the duo were victorious in both double and singles action. In the Round of 32 against the nationally-ranked Aggies, Tech dropped a 4-0 decision.

The Lady Raiders return to action next weekend at the Blue Grey Tennis Classic hosted by the City of Montgomery (Alabama). Draws for the two-day tournament will be released next week.
