Lady Raider Tennis Begins Big 12 Play This Weekend

Texas Tech hosts West Virginia, Iowa State this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 25 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team opens Big 12 play this weekend as the Lady Raiders host West Virginia on Friday and Iowa State on Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center.

Friday's match is set to begin at 5 p.m. while Sunday's match will start at noon.

This is the seventh meeting between the Lady Raiders (10-4) and the Mountaineers (8-3). The Lady Raiders have won all six matchups and swept the Mountaineers in five of the six meetings since West Virginia joined the Big 12 in 2013.

Sunday's match will mark the 28th meeting between Texas Tech and the Cyclones (5-4). The Lady Raiders own the all-time series, 27-0, and have swept the Cyclones in five of the last six matches. Iowa State is led by Boomer Saia, former Texas Tech assistant coach.

The Lady Raiders enter the weekend on a three-match win streak after defeating No. 38 Rice, 4-2, to stay a perfect 5-0 at the McLeod Tennis Center.

West Virginia comes to Lubbock on a two-match win streak after defeating Marshall, 5-2, in Morgantown, W.Va. Iowa State has lost two of its last three matches including a 4-1 loss at Minnesota.
