Women’s Tennis Set Commence Fall Season at ACU Invitational

Two head east for ITA All-American Championships
LUBBOCK — Texas Tech women's tennis opens its 2026 fall season this weekend, with the Red Raiders competing in a pair of events beginning Friday, Sept. 18.
Four Red Raiders will travel to Abilene, Texas, for the ACU Invitational, while freshman Valerie Shue and sophomore Havana Kadi will head to Cary, N.C., for the ITA All-American Championships beginning Saturday, Sept. 19.
Representing Texas Tech at the ACU Invitational will be Ella Brownback, Raegan Farm, Teodora Prisadnikova and Polina Sleptsova. Competition begins Friday morning with doubles play, followed by singles action.
Brownback and Sleptsova return for their sophomore seasons after making immediate impacts as freshmen a year ago. Brownback posted a 17-19 singles record in her debut campaign and excelled in doubles, compiling an impressive 24-10 overall record. Sleptsova added valuable depth in doubles play, finishing the season with an 8-6 record.
Both newcomers, Farm and Prisadnikova will make their collegiate debuts this weekend. A five-star recruit and the highest-ranked player out of Oregon in her class, Farm reached a career-high ranking of No. 52 in the USTA Girls 18U standings and captured two state championships during her high school career.
Prisadnikova arrives in Lubbock with an impressive international résumé, as the Great Britain native was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation's Girls 16U standings and compiled a 25-6 singles record in 2025. During that stretch, she won 13 consecutive matches from September through October and will look to carry that momentum into her first collegiate competition.

Out east in Cary, Kadi and Shue will compete against some of the nation's top talent at the ITA All-American Championships.
Kadi enters her sophomore season after posting an 11-8 singles record as a freshman in 2025-26. She is coming off a strong summer campaign highlighted by a singles title at the Surrey Open in August.
Shue, meanwhile, arrives as the highest-ranked American recruit in program history. The South Salem, N.Y., native was ranked No. 11 nationally and recorded eight hard-court victories in August alone before earning the No. 11 spot in the 2026-27 ITA Preseason Newcomer Rankings. Shue was the only Big 12 player ranked among the nation's top 20 newcomers.
Kadi will begin competition Saturday in the ITA All-American pre-qualifying rounds, aiming to advance into the qualifying draw that begins Monday. Thanks to her preseason ranks, Shue has already secured a spot in the qualifying rounds, with her match time to be announced at a later date.
