The Red Raiders will face No. 6 Florida in their second straight Super Regional appearance
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 11-seeded Texas Tech will play its second-straight NCAA Super Regional in the state of Florida, this time against the No. 6-seeded Gators in Gainesville. The best of three series will start at 10 a.m. CT on Friday with game two at 11:30 a.m. CT on Saturday those games will be on ESPN2 and ESPN on ABC, respectively.
The Red Raiders don't have much history with Florida when it comes to softball. They have played just four times, the last time being 2009, and the Gators have won all four meetings. Tech has faced just two SEC teams this season in Texas A&M and Ole Miss and hold a 3-0 record against the conference while Florida is 3-0 against the Big 12 after beating Kansas and UCF.
Quick Hits:
The Red Raiders improved to 6-0 in Regional games under Gerry Glasco after taking down Marist and then Ole Miss twice. Tech made history, becoming the first team since 2000 to comeback from 8+ runs to win a game as they put up eight runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with two outs before walking off the Rebels in the bottom of the 8th inning on a sacrifice fly. Tech had another eight-run inning in the Regional Championship, but this time in the third inning as they won 14-2 to advance to its second-straight NCAA Super Regional.
