Tech hosts Baylor for regular season finale with senior day on Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 2/4 Texas Tech (48-4, 19-2) will host Baylor (27-23, 9-12) in a three-game series beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Tracy Sellers Field. Game two will be played on Friday at 6 p.m. with Senior Day being Saturday following the game at 1:30 p.m. against the Bears.
The Red Raiders have already secured the Big 12 Regular Season Title but are looking to continue to stack wins with postseason seeding on the line. The Bears are half a game up on UCF in the Big 12 standings and will be looking to steal a game on the road to ensure their appearance at the Big 12 Tournament beginning on May 7.
The seniors being celebrated for the Red Raiders are Jackie Lis, Victoria Valdez, Alana Johnson, NiJaree Canady, Nikolette Schmidt, Mihyia Davis and Chloe Riassetto. Tech will also be hosting 'Meow in the Park' and 'Bark in the Park' on Thursday and Friday, respectively, with forms to bring your animal located here or on TexasTech.com.
Quick Hits:
The duo of NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry has been second to none this season. Terry is batting .485 this season with a sub-2.00 ERA and a 20-1 record in the circle. Terry's power is coming into play as well as she has launched 10 homers this season. Terry has recorded more extra-base hits (24) than she's allowed (21). After resting during the summer and most of the fall, Canady has looked back to form. The senior's velocity is ramping up as we have seen an uptick in strikeout numbers over her last couple of outings. Canady eclipsed 1,000 career strikeouts and currently sits with a 1.34 ERA and a 20-3 record on the season. Both players were also named to the USA Softball Top 25 Collegiate Player of the Year Watchlist.
Mihyia Davis is one of the most valuable players in the country and has been that way her whole career. Among active players she ranks first in hits (330), at-bats (812) and stolen bases (136). She also ranks second in runs (230) and fourth in games played (240). She is the only active player with 300 hits.
NiJaree Canady continues to make history. The reigning National Pitcher of the Year eclipsed 1,000 strikeouts for her career after striking out against BYU. Canady is just one of two active players with 1,000 career K's and the only active player with 1,000 K's and 90 wins. Canady had another good outing against Arizona State, going 2-0 including a game where she had 9 K's.

Kaitlyn "KT" Terry has been arguably the team's best player so far this season. She leads the team with a .489 batting average, which is also sixth best in the country, and also has a 1.47 ERA and a 20-1 record. Terry also set the school record with a 24-game hit streak and had a 36-game on base streak up until last weekend.
Gerry Glasco is now 66-0 in conference series dating back to his time at Louisiana. The head coach has lost the first game of a series 10 times and has comeback to win each time. Tech looked to be in jeopardy of breaking that streak after a tough loss to Arizona in game one, but retaliated in a big way with back-to-back run-rule victories.
Jackie Lis has been on fire at the plate over the last few weeks. The senior is up to 15 homers on the season which puts her at 59 for her career, the 5th most of any active player.
