Tech signs lefty pitcher from Utah
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Hailey Maestretti on Saturday. Maestretti comes to Lubbock after spending two seasons at Utah.
Went 13-8 with a 2.53 ERA in her sophomore season. Tossed 14 complete games and six shutouts including a complete game shutout against the Red Raiders. She also shut out Arizona State and BYU on her way to being named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
Improved her ERA from 3.81 to 2.53 during after freshman season. Her freshman season was highlighted by a strong outing against No. 5 LSU where she held the Tigers to just one earned run through 6.0 innings. Comes to Tech having thrown 298.1 innings through 78 appearances in her career and striking out 152 batters.
"Hailey is the epitome of a pitcher that can go down and change speeds effectively to keep home run teams from being effective," said Gerry Glasco. "She is a calm and calculated competitor that exhibits extreme intelligence and poise at all times. We placed extreme importance on her recruitment because we believe she compliments our pitching staff to the fullest and allows us to be effective against any type of offense this coming season."
