Tech heads to Utah this weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 66 Texas Tech Red Raiders are heading to Utah this weekend for matches against the No. 63 BYU Cougars and the Utah Utes. Tech will play BYU on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, then face the Utes on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
The Red Raiders (11-7, 1-2 Big 12) are coming off two wins last weekend against UTSA and No. 36 Oklahoma State. In Tech's first conference win this season, the Red Raiders secured the doubles point after the teams of Niksa Arsic/Thiago Guglieri and Sebastian Abboud/Tyler Stewart won their matches. In singles, Tech got wins from Stewart, Arsic and Guglieri to claim the 4-0 sweep.
The Red Raiders are led in dual singles wins by both Arsic and Guglieri, who are 11-2 on the season. All of Arsic's wins have come at court one while the majority of Guglieri's wins have come at court five. Just behind them in singles wins is Felipe Pagnacco with 10, six of those victories coming at line four. In dual doubles, the pairing of Arsic and Guglieri lead the team with nine wins, all of which came at the top court. Â
Scouting the Opponents
The No. 63 BYU Cougars are 13-4 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play. They have key wins over Denver, Gonzaga and Oklahoma State. The Cougars recently lost to UCF, Arizona and Boise State. On the singles side, BYU is led by Tygen Goldammer with a 13-2 record. Just behind him is Adam Chodur with nine wins and Caden Hasler with eight. The duo of TJ Wells and Goldammer boast a team-leading 10 doubles wins this season.
The Utah Utes are 4-12 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Their four wins have come against Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Montana and Montana State. Utah recently lost to UCF, Arizona and Oklahoma State. Simeon Terziev leads the Utah in dual singles wins with a 7-2 record, with four of those wins coming at court three. Just behind him is Balthazar Huss with six wins, the majority coming at court five. The doubles team of Dante Teramo and Huss lead the team with seven dual wins, all at the top court.
