Men’s Tennis Prepped for Blue Gray Tennis Classic

Red Raiders head to Montgomery, Ala., to compete in the 78-annual running of the tournament.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Texas Tech men's tennis will continue its fall campaign this weekend, heading to Lagoon Tennis Park to compete against Alabama, Alabama State, Columbia, Georgia Tech, Memphis, South Alabama and Tulane.
Thiago Guglieri, Felipe Pagnacco, Thomas Van Den Dooren and Joseph Patton will represent the Red Raiders at the event, kicking off Friday at 8 a.m., with Tech facing Tulane in the upper draw. Each matchup features a dual-match style scoring set up, two doubles matches and four singles matches, with each victory securing a point for their team. If the score is level at 3-3, teams will play a 10-point tiebreaker in doubles to determine the winner.
The Red Raiders next matchup will be against either Georgia Tech or Alabama State, beginning with the doubles matches on Friday evening before continuing with the singles portion the following day.
The team is coming off a weekend break after wrapping up competition at ITA All-Americans, following their exits in the main draw, several Red Raiders found success in the pre-qualifying consolation bracket, including Pagnacco who posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Oliver Sanders, and Guglieri closed out competition with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Luis Llorens Saracho.
