Red Raiders look to continue winning streak at home

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders continue their spring slate at home for the third-straight weekend hosting the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 11 a.m. on Friday and the New Mexico Lobos at 12 p.m. on Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
After last weekend, the Red Raiders pushed their overall record to 4-2 after two sweeps over New Mexico State and UTRGV. Against the Aggies, Texas Tech opened with a strong performance securing the doubles point with wins from Felipe Pagnacco and Bautista Leguizamon, 6-3, and the duo of Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri, 7-5. Their momentum carried into singles play, where Arsic won in straight-sets on court one, 6-0, 6-4. Then, Guglieri added another point on court five, 6-2, 6-3, and finally Tyler Stewart clinched the match on court two, 6-4, 6-3, giving the Red Raiders their first sweep of the day.
The Red Raiders continued their dominant play on Saturday in the second match of the day against UTRGV. Arsic and Guglieri quickly earned a doubles win on court one, 6-1, followed by Thomas Van Den Dooren and Joseph Patton on court three,6-2, to secure the doubles point. In singles, Guglieri picked up his second singles victory of the day, 6-1, 6-3, Pagnacco earned a straight-set win on court four, 6-3, 6-3, and Arsic clinched the match on court one, 6-3, 6-1, to complete a Red Raider doubleheader sweep.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Red Raiders are 7-5 all-time against the Ragin' Cajuns, winning the last meeting against Louisiana, 6-1, on Jan. 15, 2023. In addition, Texas Tech has won four of the last five matches against the Ragin' Cajuns. The Ragin' Cajuns are 2-2 this season with wins over FGCU and Southern. They are led in doubles by the duo of William Ribero and Mason Landreth, who check in at No. 79 in the latest ITA rankings.
New Mexico leads the all-time series against Tech, 28-17. However, the Red Raiders have won the last six meetings dating back to 2017 with the Scarlet & Black earning the last victory against the Lobos by a 6-1 score back in 2024. The Lobos are 3-5 this season with three of their losses coming on the road. Their wins have come against UT Arlington, Idaho and Western New Mexico.
