
No. 18 UCF beats Red Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 70 Texas Tech Red Raiders fell to the No. 18 UCF Knights, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (12-11, 2-6 Big 12) lost the doubles point to UCF (19-7, 5-3 Big 12) to open the match. At court two, the Red Raider duo Thiago Guglieri and Niksa Arsic took the win over Mehdi Benchakroun and Santiago Giamichelle, 6-2.
To tie up doubles play, the UCF pair Emilio Sanchez and Yassine Dlimi defeated Sebastian Abboud and Piotr Pawlak, 6-4. Then, on court three Paul Colin and Nicolas Oliveira took down Takeyasu Sekiguchi and Tyler Stewart, 6-4, clinching the doubles point for the UCF Knights.
In singles play, UCF scored first on court five when Nicolas Oliveira took down Guglieri in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. On court one, Pawlak fell to No. 77-ranked Dlimi on matching sets, 6-4, 6-4.
To end the match, Ludovico Vaccari dropped his match to Giamichelle on court four, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 (4). Matches on courts two, three and six went unfinished.
Up next, the Red Raiders head to Waco, Texas next week to play in the Big 12 Tournament. Â
