
Tech in San Diego for Ed Collins Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders are heading to San Diego for the Ed Collins Invitational this Friday through Sunday. The Red Raiders will face the No. 66-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs on Friday at 4 p.m. CT at the Hogan Tennis Center to open the tournament.
Other teams competing in the Ed Collins Invitational are San Diego, UC San Diego, Utah, San Diego State, UC Santa Barbara and Tulane. Texas Tech leads the all-time series against Old Dominion with a 1-0 record. The two teams last played on March 6, 1996 as Tech won the match by a 4-0 score.
Texas Tech (7-4) is coming off a week break after taking down both Nevada and Florida Gulf Coast University. In dual singles, freshman Thiago Guglieri leads the team with seven wins on the season. Three Red Raiders are just behind with six dual wins each in Sebastian Abboud, Niksa Arsic and Ludovico Vaccari. The No. 80-ranked duo of Abboud and Piotr Pawlak lead the team with eight dual doubles wins, all coming at court one.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Old Dominion is 6-5 on the season with key wins over Liberty, Charlotte and Virginia Tech, while most recently falling to VCU and Penn. The Monarchs have two teams ranked in doubles, as Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Adam Majchrzak check in at No. 77 while the brother duo of Connor and Codie Van Schalkwyk are ranked No. 88. In singles, Connor Van Schalkwyk sit at No. 101.
