
Tech heads to Stillwater this week

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 68-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders are on the road this week as they head to Stillwater, Okla., to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center. The Cowboys hold a 17-24 all-time record against the Red Raiders, winning the last two matches against Tech.
Texas Tech (10-6, 1-1 Big 12) is coming off a split weekend against No. 52 Utah and No. 71 BYU. Against the Cougars, the Red Raiders lost the doubles point, but won four singles matches to get the 4-1 win.
Tech, who moved up a spot in the latest team rankings, is led in dual singles wins by freshman Ludovico Vaccari with 10 wins, six of those coming at court four. Just behind him is senior Sebastian Abboud with nine wins and eight coming at court six. Two Red Raiders also total eight dual singles wins on the season in Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri.
In dual doubles, the duo of Sebastian Abboud and Piotr Pawlak lead the team with a 10-4 record, all coming at the top court. Boasting a perfect 7-0 dual record is the pairing of Arsic and Guglieri, who remain perfect at court three.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are 7-8 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play so far. Some key wins have come over BYU, Tulsa and Seattle, while some losses were against Memphis, Middle Tennessee, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego. The Cowboys have one ranked singles player in Isaac Becroft, who checks in at No. 87 in the rankings. In doubles, the tandem of Nicolas Kobelt and Alessio Basile are ranked at No. 58.
