
Bii, Kiprono claim victories Friday morning

Texas Tech was led by two freshman who came away with the individual title wins
HOBBS, N.M. – Sheilah Bii and Edwin Kiprono led the way for Texas Tech cross country Friday morning coming away with individual victories at the NMJC Invitational at Harry McAdams Park.
The women's 5k kicked off the day as Bii turned in a time of 17:43.60 as Lily Mather placed second with a time of 18:24.30. Meanwhile, Hannah Spears (18:43.70) and Alexia Garza (19:03.50) rounded out the top-5 placing fourth and fifth.
Overall, six women placed inside the top-10 with the 1-2-4-5-6 scoring helped the Red Raiders walk away with the team title.

On the men's side, Kiprono paced the way in the 8k clocking in at 23:30.70. Kirk Zuber (25:21.10) was the only other Red Raider in the top-5. Edwin Rotich (25:33.00) and Demitrius Guerrero (25:40.00) rounded out the top-10 coming in seventh and eighth.
The men's team registered a 1-5-7-8-17 to finish second in the team standings.

Overall, 4? Red Raiders finish in the top-10 as they finish 2nd in the team standings.
