
Cherubet places 11th at NCAA XC Championships

The sophomore earns back-to-back All-America honors in cross country
MADISON, Wisc. – Sophomore Juliet Cherubet placed 11th overall in the women's 6k with a time of 19:47.2, earning back-to-back All-America (top-40) honors Saturday morning at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
On the men's side, Ernest Cheruiyot finished 131st with a 10k time of 30:06.2, while Solomon Kipchoge went down as a DNF.
Throughout the entire race, Cherubet did not drop out of the top-20, reaching as high as No. 5 after the 1k mark. She dropped 14 spots after the 2k mark but then slowly worked her way back into the top-10 with 1k left. From there, she would slide two spots in the final stretch to finish 11th – 2.2 seconds separated her from 10th place.

Cherubet was the second Big 12 runner to cross the end line behind WVU's Ceili McCabe who finished sixth. The sophomore saw major improvement from year one to two as in 2023, she placed 18th at the national meet.
The Red Raiders will now turn their attention to the upcoming indoor season which is scheduled to start December 7 in Boston, Mass.
