The race in Hobbs will be the second of the season for the men’s side
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's cross country team will compete in the second-annual NMJC Dr. Steve McCleery Invitational Friday morning at Harry McAdams Park.
Tech will toe the starting line for the 8k race beginning at 10:45 a.m. CT (9:45 local). Friday's meet marks the second race of the season for the Red Raiders as they kicked off the year last week in Stillwater at the Cowboy Preview. Just a short trip down the road to Hobbs, Tech returns to Harry McAdams park for the first time since 2024 – competed in three meets there that season.
Titus Kimaru will look to pace the Red Raiders this season and he's off to a hot start. After winning the Cowboy Preview with a 5k time of 14:59.8, the sophomore was named the Big 12 Runner of the Week Wednesday afternoon. He garnered the league's first weekly award of the season and the fourth overall of his career.

The second-annual meet is dedicated to former NMJC President Dr. Steve McCleery who passed away last year. He served as the Thunderbird's President from 1998-2016 and then in the interim role from 2021-22 before serving as President Emeritus from 2023-24.
