
Cross Country completes first meet of the season

Each the men’s and women’s team put three runners in the top-10
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The 2025 Texas Tech cross country season kicked off its season at the Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open Saturday morning at the NMSU Golf Course.

The men's team was led by a 1-2 finish by Titus Kimaru and Ernest Cheruiyot. Kimaru crossed the line at 13:52 for his first career cross country win. Cheruiyot crossed the end line with a time of 14:12. Newcomer Victor Kipkoech placed seventh at 14:51 to round out the top-10.
Over on the women's side, Lily Mather paced Tech with a second-place outing, crossing the end line at 17:34 (PB). Jenna Carter (8th, 17:56, PB), Pauline Wanjiku (9th, 17:58) and Hannah Spears (10th, 18:02) round out the top-10 for the Red Raiders.

Tech will have the next week off before hosting the annual Texas Tech Open at the LCU Cross Country Course on Friday, Sept. 12. Race time are TBD.
