
Kimaru named Big 12 Runner of the Week

Titus Kimaru finished 20 seconds ahead of the next runner
IRVING, Texas. – Texas Tech sophomore Titus Kimaru was named the Big 12 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. The weekly honor is the first of his career.
Kimaru, in his first season running cross country, crossed the line with a 5k time of 13:52 – 20 seconds over second place finisher and teammate Ernest Cheruiyot. The 1-2 tandem paced the Red Raiders up front who scored 47 points en route to a second-place team finish.
Kimaru joined the Red Raiders squad ahead of the 2025 tack season, missing out on the 2024 cross country year, making last Saturday his first career cross country race. The sophomore capped off a stellar year with an appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships competing in the 3k steeplechase.
