
Lady Raiders compete in Jae Foundation Fall Open

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders continue their fall season with a tournament in Fort Worth, Texas as they compete at the Jae Foundation Fall Open hosted by TCU on October 31 to November 3.
Tech is coming off a two-week break after competing at the ITA Texas Regional tournament. The Lady Raiders put on a show in that tournament as they picked up 18 overall wins, had a singles player make it to the quarterfinals and had two doubles teams in the semifinals, with one winning the title. That team of Avelina Sayfetdinova and Mariia Hlahola would qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships later this month with the victory. This duo leads the team with an unblemished, 8-0 doubles record so far.
Just behind them are the pairings of Andreea Lila and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko as well as Lila and Jermine Sherif, who both have three wins each. In singles, freshman Elena Daskalova leads the team with an 8-4 record, followed by three Lady Raiders with six wins apiece in Lila, Hlahola and Arina Oreshchenkova.
The Lady Raiders traveling to Fort Worth are Lila, Dmitrichenko, Daskalova, Oreshchenkova, Hlahola and Hailey Murphy. Team competing at the Jae Foundation Fall Open are TCU, BYU, Notre Dame, Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, Rice, Texas A&M, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Baylor, SMU, Oklahoma, Missouri, Cincinnati, Kansas and LSU. Tech will play four doubles matches and eight singles matches each day against an opposing team. Play will begin Thursday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
