Peet beats ranked opponent in victory over Baylor

LUBBOCK, Texas – Fifth-year senior Olivia Peet recorded a ranked singles win as the No. 33 Texas Tech Lady Raiders posted a 4-3 win over the No. 40 Baylor Bears on Friday night at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Lady Raiders (13-6, 3-2 Big 12) posted their 13th doubles point on the year when they took two doubles matches from Bears (11-11, 2-5 Big 12). At the top of the lineup, No. 50 Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova rolled their way through their opponents of Paula Baranano and Daniella Dimitrov by a 6-2 score to give Tech the advantage.
Then, clinching the doubles point was Peet and Cristina Tiglea at court two. Taking on Isabella Harvison and Anita Sahdiieva, the Lady Raiders would find themselves down 2-3, but would go on to win four of the next five games to claim the match, 6-4. When Tech won the point, Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Camryn Stepp were ahead of Alina Shcherbinina and Brooke Thompson at court three, 5-4.
The Lady Raiders continued to roll in singles after winning three more matches. First, Peet picked up her second ranked singles win and first of the dual season when she defeated No. 124 Shcherbinina at the top of the lineup in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Next, Sayfetdinova added to Tech's lead when she collected her ninth dual win of the season with a dominating victory against Sahdiieva at court two, 6-2, 6-2.
It would be Komac at court five to clinch the Lady Raider's third Big 12 win, her first clinch of the season. Komac tallied Tech's third-consecutive straight-set victory as she beat Dimitrov, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Up next, Texas Tech continues Big 12 play at home against No. 9 Texas on Sunday, April 2 at the McLeod Tennis Center.
