
Tech closes six-match road swing at K-State/KU

Texas Tech will clash with Kansas State Friday at 4 and Kansas Sunday at Noon
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis program closes out a six-match road swing this weekend when they travel to Kansas State on Friday and Kansas on Sunday.
Texas Tech (8-6) will look to record the first Big 12 Conference victory of the season. Tech opened Big 12 play last weekend with a pair of setbacks at No. 8 Texas and No. 33 Baylor.

The Texas Tech women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Nebraska Huskers 4-1 at the Dillion Tennis Center.
After losing the doubles point two and six, Texas Tech (8-6) cruised in singles winning all four singles contests that were completed. Tech won nine of 10 sets that were finished.
Metka Komac quickly tied the score for the Lady Raiders on court four, when she closed out a tidy 6-4, 6-0 victory.
With the score knotted at one, Tech took the lead for good, when Olivia Peet cruised to a three and two decision on court three.
No. 20 Margarita Skriabina brought Tech to within one team point of the overall victory with a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-3) on court one. The victory was Skriabina's first since Feb. 26 against Arizona and snapped a four-match winless streak. Skriabina is now 11-4 in singles action this spring.
Needing just one point to clinch the eighth victory of the season, Tech turned to Italian freshman Cristina Tiglea who closed out a clutch 6-2, 6-3 win on court six.
SCOUTING K-STATE:
Kansas State enters Friday matchup at No. 56 in the most recent ITA rankings. The Wildcats are 6-6 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 play. K-State opened Big 12 play last weekend with a pair of losses at No. 7 Oklahoma State and No. 3 Oklahoma. Last Friday, the Cats suffered a 4-0 setback to the Cowgirls before falling 4-1 at OU. In the Sunday match against the Sooners, senior Maria Linares put the lone point on the board for Kansas State, winning 6-3, 6-2 over Ivana Corley.
SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS:
Like the Wildcats and Lady Raiders, Kansas also enters this weekend 0-2 in Big 12 play. Kansas dropped a pair of matches last weekend at No. 3 Oklahoma and at No. 7 OSU. In the OU match, the Jayhawks fell 4-1. The lone point of the contest came from Carmen Roxana Manu who won a 7-6, 6-4 decision on Court 5. On Sunday after noon, the Jayhawks again dropped a 4-1 decision. Like she did in Friday's match, Roxana Manu recorded a straight-set victory to give the Jayhawks their lone point. A pair of Jayhawks are ranked in the ITA singles rankings, led by No. 59 Maria Titova. Malkia
Ngounoue is the other Jayhawk to earn a ranking, as Ngounoue is ranked 124th overall.
