
Lady Raiders Fall to No. 5 NC State, 5-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team dropped a Saturday decision to No. 5 North Carolina State, 5-2, at the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Lady Raiders drop to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in home matches following Saturday's loss.

Tech began the afternoon by dropping two of three doubles matches to surrender the doubles point and an early 1-0 match deficit.

In singles, the Lady Raiders were headed by Nell Miller, who moved to 6-1 in dual match play and 3-0 this weekend with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of the Wolfpack's Jaeda Daniel on court four. The other match point for Tech would be provided by Margarita Skriabina on court three, as she defeated No. 30 Adriana Reami of NC State by a margin of 6-2, 0-6, 6-1. The win was the second ranked victory for Skriabina this season.

NC State took four of six singles matches, beginning with a win by No. 20 Alana Smith over Olivia Peet on court one at a 6-2, 6-1 clip. Lana Mavor of the Wolfpack secured the third match point for NC State with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph over Isa Di Laura.

Liz Norman secured the match for the Wolfpack on court five with a 6-2, 7-6(6) defeat of Bojana Marinkov before No. 43 Anna Rogers claimed the fifth point with a 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Lisa Mays on court two.

The Lady Raiders will return to action on Monday, Feb. 17 to take on Denver at the McLeod Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT.
