Lady Raiders Fall to No. 16 Texas in Big 12 Opener

AUSTIN, Texas – In the Big 12 season opener, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders dropped a 67-47 decision to No. 16/16 Texas on Thursday night.

The Longhorns (7-4) jumped out to a 14-4 lead to open the first quarter, but the Lady Raiders (8-4) took an 8-0 run at the end of the period to pull within 4.

From there Texas held the Lady Raiders to just five points in the second quarter, securing a 30-17 lead at the half.

Texas Tech held Texas to shooting just 18.2 percent from beyond the arc, the Longhorns second lowest of the season.

Sophomore Recee' Caldwell led the team with 24 points, her fifth 20+ point game of the season. Junior Larryn Brooks followed with nine points, all coming from beyond the arc.
