Texas Tech is encouraging fans to arrive as early as possible to men's and women's basketball games due to the temporary closure to the entrance and exit of the Commuter West Lot at the Texas Tech Parkway and Knoxville Avenue. This entrance and exit will be closed from Dec. 5 to Jan. 13 for construction. Fans are asked to use the entrances and exits off Indiana Avenue when arriving from the north along with the entrances and exits at Indiana Avenue and 18th Street when arriving from 19th Street or the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

- Texas Tech concludes its non-conference slate as the Lady Raiders host UTA on Thursday for a 2 p.m. tip.
- Thursday's game marks the 13th meeting between the two programs. The Lady Raiders hold a 12-1 all-time record over the Lady Mavericks. This is the first meeting under Head Coach Candi Whitaker.
- Former Lady Raider Krista (Kirkland) Gerlich returns to Lubbock for the first time as head coach of the Lady Mavericks. She was a member of the 1993 National Championship team. Her No. 21 jersey was retired on Dec. 4, 1993 and she was inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame in 2003.
- This is the second game this season that two former Lady Raiders coached against each other. The first was when Noel Johnson and Midwestern State came to Lubbock for the exhibition game.
- In the last meeting, Texas Tech defeated UTA, 88-48, on Dec. 7, 2012 in Lubbock. The Lady Raiders are 8-0 in home meetings against the Lady Mavericks.
- Texas Tech enters the matchup on a three-game win streak. The Lady Raiders routed Alcorn State, 90-37, on Sunday. This was the third time this season the Lady Raiders have scored 90 points in a game. Texas Tech scored 90 in back-to-back games in the season opener vs. North Dakota (W, 90-80) and at #24 Texas A&M (L, 90-98).
- For the first time this season, six Lady Raiders scored 10+ points. Jada Terry led the team with 15 points, shooting .857 (6-7) from the field.
- UTA comes to Lubbock on a two-game win streak after defeating Texas A&M-Commerce, 80-50, on Sunday.
