Kenna Kilgo Cruises Into Unknown, Semifinals

Kenna Kilgo advanced to the semifnals in her first collegiate event on Saturday.

MIDLAND, Texas - It was supposed to be just her first collegiate tournament, but Texas Tech's Kenna Kilgo is playing like a seasoned collegian as she cruised into the semifinals of the women's singles draw at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
"I am extremely pleased with Kenna and how she played today," said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. "She played great in tight situations. You can see that she is mature for a freshman. She has a tough match tomorrow and if she stays poised, she can do well."
Kilgo dropped Rice's Katie Gater in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, before setting up a battle with Arianna Colffer of Pepperdine, who had just upended third-seeded Madeleine Geibert of Nebraska. Colffer captured the first set, 7-6, before Kilgo rattled of successive 6-4 victories to advance to the semifinals.
Samantha Adams split a pair of matches in the consolation bracket on Saturday, winning her quarterfinal match against Tulsa's Michelle Farley, before falling to Tulsa's Samantha Vickers.
In doubles, Kilgo and Adams cruised to an 8-0 win to advance to the semifinals on Sunday.
"We played about as clean as we could in doubles," added Petty. "I was very impressed with our execution. I feel like they have a chance to do some special things on Sunday."
At the Sooner Fall Invitational in Norman, Okla., Haley Fournier advanced to the Consolations Finals and Sandra Dynka split a pair of matches and will play in the fifth place match.
Fournier defeated North Texas' Ilona Serchenko and Wichita State's Veronika Blaskova to advance to the consolation finals. Dynka lost to Oklahoma's Marie-Pier Huet in the main draw, before dropping Armstrong Atlantic's Olga Kalodzitsa.
