LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team improved to 6-0 on the fall with two victories this week, defeating Odessa College, 16-2, on Thursday, and Howard College, 12-1 on Friday afternoon.
With a few weeks of seeing live pitching under its belts, the Red Raider offense came alive in both games as Ashley Hamada combined to go 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a triple in both games joining numerous others with multiple RBI days.
Against Odessa College, Emily Bledsoe went 2-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs, while the powerful bats of Cydney Allen and Sandy James added two hits each with James powering a home run.
The Tech pitching staff of Ashley Brokeshoulder, Brittany Talley, Karli Merlich, and Kermitria Ward was equally as effective, allowing two runs and four hits over seven innings.
Mikey Kenney, along with Hamada, led the Tech offense against Howard College with a home run and 2 RBIs, while McKenzie Clemmons added a 2-for-3 day that included two runs scored. Tech was efficient once again in the circle as the trip of Kelsey Dennis, Merlich and Ward did not allow a run till late in the game while allowing five hits.
Tech closes its fall schedule next week against Midland College on Oct. 21 and Lubbock Christian University on Oct. 22. Both game times have not been set and will be announced at a later date.
