LUBBOCK, Texas - Kassie Humphreys picked up her 14th win on the season with a one-hit, 4-1 win over Texas Tech (18-22, 1-8) this afternoon in softball action at Rocky Johnson Field, and Kansas improved to 28-18-1, 4-8 on the season.
In the Red Raider first, Ashley Parker walked, promptly stole second and, after two outs, stole third. She scampered home on a dropped third strike on Brandy Moulin's at bat. Jennifer Corkin followed with what turned out to be Tech's only hit, with a line drive to right.
Humphreys tied the game in the top of the second with a blast to left field, her fourth home run of the season. Three more runs posted in the Jayhawk's fifth, none were earned, as poor defense contributed to the inning.
Sarah Losleben (5-9) took the loss for the Red Raiders as the junior right hander scattered four hits, struck out eight, and walked three.
The teams will meet again tomorrow, Sunday, April 22, at noon with senior day festivities preceding the game.
