LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team will host the No. 6-ranked Texas Longhorns on Sat., Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. in Lubbock at The Nautilus Fitness Center. The Red Raiders enter the contest 5-0 and 1-0 in league play after defeating Missouri 4-3 last weekend. The Longhorns will play their first match of the 2001 campaign against Tech.
"Texas is a very good club," said head coach Virginia Brown. "We have done well in our first few matches. We lost some against Missouri, but I think we can recover from our mistakes."
Sophomore Barbara Schraml enters the weekend with a 4-1 record and 1-0 in the Big 12. She stepped up last week against Missouri to play in the No. 1 position and defeated Jessica Ferguson, who is a preseason All-Big 12 candidate, 2-5, 7-5, 6-4.
From the No. 4 position down the Red Raiders have beaten each opponent in straight sets.
Following the battle with the Longhorns the Red Raiders will take-on Iowa State on Sun., Feb. 18, in Lubbock.
