SENIOR SEASON (2019-20)
Clarke led the Red Raiders by averaging 6.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in his senior season while also adding 5.6 points per game… He finished the season second in the Big 12 in assists and eighth in rebounding and led Tech with two double-doubles… Clarke had six games with double-figure rebounding performances with a season-high 12 rebounds in games against Tennessee State and Louisville… In the win over No. 1 Louisville, Clarke had six assists and seven points to help the Red Raiders knock off the top-ranked team in the nation for the first time in program history… He recorded his double-doubles with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Southern Miss after contributing 11 points and 10 rebounds against Iowa… Clarke had a career-high 11 assists in a non-conference win over Houston Baptist and scored a season-high 17 points against Creighton at the Las Vegas Classic… In the final two games of the season he had eight rebounds against No. 4 Baylor and No. 1 Kansas along with having five assists against the Bears… Clarke had five or more assists in 13 games and five or more rebounds in 22 games… In Big 12 play he averaged 5.1 rebounds per game and had 62 assists… He was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 23 after averaging a double-double during a week of wins over Southern Miss and UTRGV… Clarke finished his collegiate career with 896 points, 716 rebounds and 347 assists.
PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH: Clarke transfers to Tech as a senior following three seasons at Virginia Tech where he contributed 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.03 steals in 79 games played… He was ranked as the No. 8 graduate transfer by ESPN… A Virginia Beach, Virginia native, he played prep basketball at Cape Henry Collegiate School prior to Virginia Tech and helped to lead his school to two state championships. Clarke was the No. 1 rated player by ESPN and 247Sports coming out of Virginia as a senior and was the 2015 VISAA Division I Player of the Year… At Virginia Tech, Clarke would average 8.2 points and 6.3 rebounds as a junior after going for 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in his sophomore season… Only player in VT history with a triple-double (12/13/10 assists against Citadel)… He arrived in Lubbock having already scored 728 points, securing 517 rebounds and contributing 210 assists and 82 steals in his collegiate career… During his final season at VT, Clarke recorded three double-doubles with 15 points and 10 rebounds against The Citadel, 16 points and 12 rebounds at Mississippi, and then 12 points and 14 rebounds at Notre Dame… Clarke also had double-digit rebounding performances with 13 against Saint Louis, 11 versus Kentucky and 10 at Syracuse… He scored a career-high 22 points in games against UMBC and Florida State during his sophomore season… As a prep recruit at Cape Henry Collegiate, Clarke was a four-star and was ranked No. 54 nationally on the ESPN 100 list and 68th by Yahoo Sports.
PERSONAL: Son of Angel and Curt Clarke. Has three siblings, Alicia, Brandon and Yvonne. His brother Brandon played basketball at Fayetteville State… Graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Sociology… Signed with Texas Tech as a graduate transfer on May 14, 2019.
