Kimaru brings home the program’s third title
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Texas Tech track and field team concluded day two of the 2026 Big 12 Outdoor Championships, highlighted by Titus Kimaru winning the title in the 3k steeplechase. Eight of 21 events were scored Friday as the Tech men sit in second with 42 points, four points behind Kansas State (46). The women are seventh with 19 points.

Kimaru brought home the third steeplechase title in program history and first since 2017 (Bernard Keter), running a facility record time of 8:32.85. Zaid Latif added more crucial points for the men as he placed second in the long jump with a PB of 8.03m (26-4 ¼) (0.5w). No. 7 all-time for Tech, he is the first Red Raider since 2019 to make an appearance in the school's top 10 list. The mark also puts him No. 4 all-time in Moroccan history.
In the 400m sprint, Collinique Farrington clocked in at 51.99, the second-fastest time Friday night. She moves to No. 3 all-time for Tech, and becomes the second woman in team history to dip under 52 seconds.
Jackson Bragg led the men's pole vault group as he finished third clearing 5.43m (17-9 ¾). Sean Gribble added a fourth place outing clearing 5.33m (17-5 ¾) as Sam Hurley placed sixth at 5.23m (17-1 ¾).

·      Lily Mather scored 7th in the steeplechase with a SB time of 10:19.96
