Temitope Adeshina becomes the second female semifinalist in program history
NEW ORLEANS – Junior high jumper Temitope Adeshina was named one of 10 semifinalists to The Bowerman award, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon. The full list of semifinalists can be viewed here.
Adeshina becomes the second female semifinalist in Tech history behind Ruth Usoro back in 2021. The Nigeria native completed an undefeated season a few weeks ago that culminated with her third NCAA high jump title. She won the competition in Eugene clearing an outdoor season best and collegiate lead of 1.96m (6-5). Her overall season best of 1.97m (6-5 ½) came back in March at the NCAA Indoor Championships where she bested the field three centimeters.

In each meet this season, Adeshina has cleared at least 1.90m (6-2 ¾). She is one of two Red Raiders to win at least three NCAA titles, joining the great Sally Kipyego. Finalists for the award will be announced this upcoming Monday, June 29.
The Bowerman is bestowed to collegiate track & field's top male and female athlete for the season. The Bowerman Advisory Board, and ultimately, The Bowerman voters, are instructed to consider performances inclusively from the collegiate indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons only. The 2026 collective track & field season began on November 28, 2025 and ended on June 13.
