May 13, 2026 | Women's Golf
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Texas Tech made program history Wednesday, advancing to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships for the fifth time after finishing fifth at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
"This means a lot to us," said head coach JoJo Robertson. "It's been such a fun year. We've played really well at times and had some down moments too. But to watch the team fight today, and even though it got close, they played their hearts out, and it was just so much fun to be a part of."
The Red Raiders secured one of five advancing spots from the regional and will compete May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Joining Texas Tech out of the Ann Arbor Regional were, in order of finish, No. 2 USC (+1), Ohio State (+6), No. 10 Duke (+16), and Northwestern (+17).
Texas Tech held off fellow Big 12 program UCF by two shots to clinch the final qualifying position, finishing at 22-over 874 (288-285-301). The Red Raiders entered the final round in fourth place following Tuesday's field-leading 1-over 285 and maintained their spot despite challenging conditions that led to a 17-over 301 on Wednesday.
Maja Ambroziak and Lauren Zaretsky led the way for the Red Raiders, with both golfers earning top-10 finishes after tying for eighth at 1-over 214 across 54 holes. Ambroziak posted rounds of 69-70-75, while Zaretsky carded scores of 71-68-75.
Texas Tech counted final-round 75s from Ambroziak, Zaretsky, and Cameron Freund, while Denisa Vodickova added a 5-over 76 in the deciding round. Freund tied for 35th at 12-over 225, followed by Klara Hurtova in a tie for 38th at 13-over 226 and Vodickova tied for 42nd at 15-over 228.
The NCAA Championships will begin May 22 (Friday) with three rounds of stroke play competition over three days. The 30-team field will then be cut to 15 teams ahead of the final round of stroke play on May 25 (Monday). The top eight teams following the fourth round will advance to match play on May 26 (Tuesday), with the national championship match scheduled for May 27 (Wednesday).
Texas Tech's best finish at the NCAA Championships came in 2015 when the Red Raiders placed fifth nationally and advanced to match play in Bradenton, Florida. The program's other three NCAA Championship appearances came in 1996 (12th), 2017 (22nd), and 2023 (21st).
