LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team has signed Laura Pop as announced by head coach Adam Herendeen on Tuesday morning.
Â
"We are thrilled Laura chose to be a Red Raider," Herendeen said. "Not only is she one of the top players in France, but she brings a contagious energy every day and it is going to make working with her a lot of fun. She has some huge goals and we cannot wait to get all five of our signees on campus and get to work."
Â
A five-star recruit from Dieppe, France, Pop has won multiple ITF junior tournaments over her career. She earned her first singles title at the J60 Sfax in 2025. She also boasts eight total ITF junior doubles titles, winning the championships at J200 Pretoria, J100 Pretoria, J100 Harare, J60 Harare, J60 Eindhoven, J30 Limassol, J30 Le Pontet and J60 Colomiers.
Â
Holding a career-high juniors ranking of No. 113 in singles, Pop competed this year in the junior girls' singles draw at the 2026 Australian Open grand slam tournament, where she took Denisa Zoldakova (ITF No. 43) to three sets.
Â
Back in March of 2025, Pop advanced out of the qualifying draw of the women's Bissy-Chambéry 15k with wins over Carla Fity (ITF No. 897), Madison Frahn (ITF No. 472), while picking up a main draw victory against Naima Karamoko (ITF No. 49).
