Tech falls in Big 12 Tournament semifinals

ORLANDO, Fla. – The 10-seeded Texas Tech Lady Raiders fell to the 3-seeded TCU Horned Frogs, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament on Friday evening at the USTA National Campus.
TCU (19-4) began the match with the lead after claiming the doubles point over Texas Tech (18-10). At court two, Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson defeated Mariia Hlahola and Elena Daskalova, 6-3. Clinching the doubles point was Cayetana Gay and Tomi Main over Ella Brownback and Polina Sleptsova at court three, 6-4. At court one, No. 83 Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy were ahead of Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai, 4-3, when their match went unfinished.
TCU went up 2-0 in the match after Cristina Ramos Sierra defeated Daskalova at court three, 6-2, 6-4. Over at court four, Gomez O'Hayon took down Sleptsova by a 6-4, 7-5 score to increase the TCU lead. Clinching the match for the Horned Frogs was Jackson at court five against Havana Kadi after winning it, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.
When the match was finished, Dmitrichenko was leading Tsai at court two, 6-2, 6-5, while both Murphy and Brownback were battling in third sets at courts one and six, respectively.
