Lady Raiders back home against Utah, BYU

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 29-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders are back at the McLeod Tennis Center to host the No. 44 Utah Utes and the No. 53 BYU Cougars. Tech will play Utah on Thursday at 4 p.m., then face BYU on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Texas Tech (13-5, 4-2 Big 12) is coming off a split weekend as they won at Houston in a close, 4-3, match, while falling to No. 20 UCF, 4-1. Against Houston, Tech won a crucial doubles point, then got singles wins from Hailey Murphy, Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Havana Kadi to clinch the win.
The Lady Raiders are led in dual singles wins by Murphy, who boasts and 10-3 record with eight of those coming at court one. Just behind her is Mariia Hlahola with eight wins and Kadi with seven. The No. 38-ranked duo of Murphy and Dmitrichenko lead the team with a 14-3 doubles record, all at court one. The pair of Elena Daskalova and Hlahola are just behind with six wins and earned their first ranked victory together last weekend against UCF.
Scouting the Opponents
The No. 44-ranked Utah Utes are 10-5 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play so far. They are on a four-match winning streak, with victories coming against BYU, Utah Tech, West Virginia and Cincinnati. Utah's five losses were to UCF, Houston, San Diego, Washington and UC Santa Barbara. There are two players who lead the team with 10 dual singles wins apiece in Sara Akid and No. 121-ranked Emma Kamper. All of Kamper's wins have come at court one, while most of Akid's wins are at court four where she is 5-0. In dual doubles, the tandem of Kamper and Emma Valletta lead the team with a 7-4 record, all coming at the top court.
The No. 53-ranked BYU Cougars are 13-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. BYU won its last two matches against West Virginia and Cincinnati, while dropping matches to Utah, Houston, UCF and San Diego. Two Cougars lead the team in dual singles wins with nine each in Sage Bergeson and Bella Lewis. Grace Levelston and Sue Yan Tan are just behind with eight wins each as Levelston's wins have all come at line one. In dual doubles, YuYun Chen and Kendall Kovick lead the team with six wins, all coming at court two.
