No. 1/2 Red Raiders improve to 3-0
LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana – The No. 1/2 Red Raiders (3-0) needed just 10 innings to get two wins as they took down North Texas 10-2 and followed that up with a 13-1 win over ULM on Friday to round out their trip to McNeese.
Samantha Lincoln and Kaitlyn Terry got their first starts and wins of the season. Lincoln finished with a line of 5.0 innings, seven strikeouts, three hits and just two earned runs. Terry threw 5.0 innings and also posted seven strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on one hit.
Mia Williams upped her RBI total to nine on the season after recording two against the Mean Green and three against ULM thanks to a home run and a three-run double.
Mihyia Davis is on a tear to start the season as well, going 6-for-9 with five runs over the first three games including a 3-for-3 performance with a pair of RBI against the Warhawks.
NiJaree Canady, Lagi Quiroga and Jasmyn Burns all joined the home run club today as Canady launched a grand slam against North Texas and Quiroga hit a walk-off two-run homer in the game as well. Burns roped a solo shot to right field against ULM in the fourth inning.
Jackie Lis, Quiroga and Desirae Spearman got their first starts of the young season. Lis and Spearman went 1-for-2 with a single. Lis drove in a run and scored another while Spearman scored two runs. Quiroga had a day going 4-for-6 with four RBI and a home run across both games.
Tech scored first in both games and have now scored in the first inning in all three games so far. The Red Raiders have more home runs (8) than strikeouts (5) so far and are hitting .507 as a team.
UP NEXT: Tech heads to College Station to take on No. 11 Texas A&M, Providence and Bryant over the next two days.
