Volleyball welcomes in Arizona State and Arizona
LUBBOCK, Texas โย Texas Tech volleyball will host both Arizona teams this weekend starting with No. 9 Arizona State on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a match with Arizona on Sunday at noon.
ย
This will be the first time Tech (8-14, 0-10) has faced the Sun Devils (18-4, 9-2) this season and the second time they've faced a top 10 team. The Wildcats (6-16, 1-10) got the better of the Red Raiders in their meeting on October 4 earlier this season in a match where Elia Dinsmore picked up her fourth career double-double going for 11 kills and 12 digs.
ย
Historically, Tech is 3-7 against Arizona State and 1-9-2 against the Wildcats as they look to flip the script this weekend.
ย
Quick Hits:
Cochran has had a career year so far, already breaking her career-high for assists three separate times including a 63-assist day against Iowa State (9/25), the first Red Raider since 2022 to record 60 assists in a match. Cochran is 7th in the Big 12 in assists per set (8.64) and her 665 total assists ranks fourth in the league.
ย
Texas Tech's Sara Bowcutt and Elia Dinsmore have already shown flashes of brilliance in their short careers. The freshmen duo rankings first and second on the team in points and kills, respectively.
ย
Aviya Russo, another freshman, has taken a spot in the starting lineup the last couple of matches. The California native has led the team in kills, blocks and points during both starts including a 12-kill performance against Kansas State last Sunday.
ย
Texas Tech's Emily Contreras, who is in her fourth year with the program, is ninth in the Big 12 for digs per set (3.52) and her 285 digs is fifth-most overall.
