Texas Tech won its third-straight match Tuesday with a 4-0 victory
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 68 Texas Tech recorded its third-consecutive victory Tuesday evening as the Red Raiders delivered a dominant performance with a 4-0 victory over Abilene Christian at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Red Raiders (12-6) set the tone early in doubles play as the duo of Thiago Guglieri and Niksa Arsic won a decisive match on court two, 6-1. Shortly after, Takeyasu Sekiguchi and Tyler Stewart clinched the doubles point on court three with a commanding 6-2 victory over ACU's Benjamin McDonald and Matheus Lima.
In singles play, Felipe Pagnacco wasted no time on court six, defeating his opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to extend the Red Raiders' lead to 2-0. Stewart followed with a hard-fought battle on court three, beating out Dennis Dutine in a first-set tiebreaker before taking control in the second set for a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory.
Guglieri sealed the win for Texas Tech in a three-set match. After a strong opening set, he was forced into a third but held firm to defeat Martin Delnido 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, clinching the 4-0 sweep for the Red Raiders, who were leading ACU (11-7) on two of the three remaining courts when the match was decided.
Up next, the Red Raiders return to Big 12 play Friday, hitting the road to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. CT in Tempe.
